Many years ago, I found myself a bit frustrated with trying to find solid information about Goldwings. Not that it wasn’t out there, it just seemed to be scattered and took a bit of effort to find what I was looking for. I’m a relatively good mechanic but as any one does, they want to make sure that they have the right information. Most of the time I ended up talking with my friends to find out what they have done and what they knew about their Goldwings. Most of the times these were garage conversations where we just sat around and shot the bull for several hours. Occasionally we would tinker on our bikes and compare notes.
Those little garage sessions morphed into a small YouTube channel with a handful of videos to help out others with maintenance procedures that tended to be on the top of the subject list. With absolutely no advertising outside of our little group I slowly got over 500 subscriptions, cool. After two years, people are still referencing them and leaving me comments and thanks for the videos I created.
Well now, after being “retired” from the corporate life for 6 months I think it’s time I dust off things and start to put together Mike’s Goldwing Garage for what I once dreamed it might become. When I first started to create videos, I made them with the thought in mind that we were in that small garage, shooting the bull and tinkering on motorcycles. I envisioned an old garage, with a set of tools and place to work. Nothing fancy, just a normal guy with a motorcycle.
So, building on that thought, I want to replicate as best I can, that same environment online. A place where friends come together and exchange information about Goldwings. I want to build this environment to be private, you know, close the garage door and keep the riffraff out. Provide no nonsense videos about things that matter to most riders. Provide some training courses for anyone interested in getting book knowledge about their motorcycles. And provide some destination places that myself and others have been. Maybe seeing if we can gather up some coupons or deals for that matter. The sky is kind of the limit here and I’m not sure exactly where this will take me, but my overall goal is to have that old small garage where friends gather, have a cup of coffee and enjoy their passion for ridding.
